The Search for Rachel, a father's journal

Tuesday, August 1 through Sunday, August 6

The CBS EARLY SHOW contacted me. They want to do a story on Rachel after Rachel's flyer is shown on the CBS WITHOUT A TRACE program. The film crew drove from Dallas to Georgetown on Thursday.

The CBS producer, reporter, cameraman, and sound man met me in Georgetown, and we drove to our old neighborhood where Rachel disappeared. The reporter and I walked the last part of Rachel's jogging route while they filmed us.

Next, the CBS crew and I drove to my new house. There they interviewed Janet, JoAnn, and me. This is all for next Monday's EARLY SHOW segment on Rachel.

Saturday a KEYE photojournalist interviewed me at the Back to School Health Fair. The Fair had a huge turnout again this year. Rachel Alert Network passed out safety information to the families. We also gave out school supplies that were donated by my family.

Monday, August 7 through Sunday, August 13

Last night the CBS WITHOUT A TRACE program aired Rachel's missing person flyer and talked about her for around 30 seconds. Immediately after that CBS did a promo for the EARLY SHOW segment on Rachel. Then at 10:00 p.m. KEYE did a segment on Rachel.

I recorded the EARLY SHOW segment on Rachel. Even though it was only two minutes long, they did a wonderful job. It showed pieces of the interviews with Janet, JoAnn, the FBI agent assigned to Rachel's case, and myself. Reporters always interview you for several minutes, but usually only 5-20 seconds of the interview makes it on the air.

Monday, August 14 through Thursday, August 31

Final approval for the missing adult training class in Omaha, Nebraska, has been received. Project Jason has done a great job of getting law enforcement students to register. We are adding an additional half day on cold cases to the class. I'm going to try and attend the entire class since it has new material.

The next M.U.S.T self-defense and awareness seminar has been scheduled. The seminar will be on Sunday, October 22, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. The location is the Southwest YMCA, 6219 Oakclaire Drive, in South Austin .
